This Friday and Saturday with the help of Dan Shane, Max Furek, Ray Zajac, Nicole Pagliaro, and our new safety dog Murph we brush hogged the trail edge from our trail head across from Martini’s Bar in Shickshinny to our new trail head at Canal Park in West Nanticoke and back. It was nice to see the Misericordia Cross Country Team practicing on the trail this morning.
Yesterday with new volunteer Bruce Whipple’s help we cleared a couple large fallen branches off the trail at about the 5 mile mark.
This is a late entry.
On Friday, August 5th we hosted the NE Pennsylvania Trails Forum at the Shickshinny Volunteer Fire Hall. (The fire fighters donated the facility.) During the forum trail groups from around our area shared their successes, plans, and problems. In the picture Max Furek and Sean Baker teamed up to provide a Susquehanna Warrior Trail update. Max is presenting a race t-shirt for a correct answer to a question they asked. Thanks to Dan Shane who organized the event along with a hike and kayak trip after the meeting. David Buck of Endless Mountain Outfitters provided the kayaks.
Today we received a letter from DCNR documenting their post construction inspection a couple weeks ago. The quote below sums up the inspection.
“The improvements made to the Susquehanna Warrior Trail are great! The entire trail appears to be well maintained and will benefit your residents in the upcoming years. Please note that this site inspection has been conducted by DCNR to verify that the project has been completed in accordance with the Contract Scope of Work and Grant Agreement. ”
We hope you are enjoying the new trail.
This morning these people enjoyed an organized ride on the trail. Thanks to Michele Schasberger, Tony Pszeniczny and Ray Zajac for organizing the ride.
