Another Tree Removed

Today with Tom Walski’s help we cleared a tree from the trail between the Search Cemetery and the Union Township Boat Launch. Thank you to Stefanie Osier Walsh for letting us know that the tree was down.

Brush Hogging

This Friday and Saturday with the help of Dan Shane, Max Furek, Ray Zajac, Nicole Pagliaro, and our new safety dog Murph we brush hogged the trail edge from our trail head across from Martini’s Bar in Shickshinny to our new trail head at Canal Park in West Nanticoke and back. It was nice to see the Misericordia Cross Country Team practicing on the trail this morning.

NE PA Trails Forum

This is a late entry.
On Friday, August 5th we hosted the NE Pennsylvania Trails Forum at the Shickshinny Volunteer Fire Hall. (The fire fighters donated the facility.) During the forum trail groups from around our area shared their successes, plans, and problems. In the picture Max Furek and Sean Baker teamed up to provide a Susquehanna Warrior Trail update. Max is presenting a race t-shirt for a correct answer to a question they asked. Thanks to Dan Shane who organized the event along with a hike and kayak trip after the meeting. David Buck of Endless Mountain Outfitters provided the kayaks.

Thank you Tony and Sylvia!

Thank you to Tony Pszeniczny and his wife Sylvia!  While Tony served as a council director, he and Sylvia made significant contributions to The Susquehanna Warrior Trail such as supervising two groups of Lake Lehman high school students while performing maintenance on the trail to satisfy their senior project requirements, organizing an 8K race on the trail, and working with other trail organizations to obtain, install, and interpret the results of trail use counters.  Tony also represented us at several trail forums.  Thanks again Tony and Sylvia!
